Back home

One early afternoon, the little loon upon the lake
One breath of fall to call the campfire underneath the birch tree
And one step towards your chest I'm drawn into you
Regardless of the looming of the rising moon
Protect me please

Pastime

Yesterday I got the chills
This morning I got the ills
And too many years with all kinds of thrills
I've been popping too many pills

Wanda's song

Wanda waited at the window
For Benny to come around the bend
Skipping and singing a tune
On a warm afternoon
For Wanda to be wed
For Benny to lay with her in bed

While at that time up in the mountains
Mocking bird was mocking all along
That bird mocks every man
And takes everything with his song

And everyone knows about the coyots'
How they cry at the moon
When the wind is weightless
Well and the air has stung
They moan the name of the loved one

To the tune of the twisted trees
And the cry of the coyotes
Wanda fell to her knees
And though she begs and though she pleas
Benny had gone to the mountains to rest in peace
And the mocking bird mocks relentlessly along
Taking everything with his song

All things worth concern

I turned my radio on to get the full effect of the storm passing through my very own window
- but as I often do I fell quickly out of tune and went off to tend to my garden...
the garden that feeds to my heartburn so effectively.
And I feel my ribs contribute too much to breathing
- the rise and the fall of the skin on my chest...
it's all too much laboring.
Running around like a two-headed clown
- excessive eyes just cause things to blur...
and all things worth any concern are just pixels and sound bites in emotional fragments anyway.

Demander Commander

Demander Commander upon the battle field a shoutin’
For all the flowers to pop up upon your victories
And weave between all the ventricles of all the hearts affected
And if I could I would throw you in the ground
In a nice compacted space
For a chance to open your eyes to who you are
And it’s only you that will rest in this place
It’s only you that you would have to hear from
It’s only you and there are no flowers

Naturally moving on

There is something about the morning that holds onto your breathing
The wind captures your insides and makes them go leaping
Into hearts of young children you know are inside you
In the place where you know you would be a good mother

Out west where it’s calling
If you have the ear for listening
Or the kind of hair that stands up on skin’s surface
That is moved by your heartbeat

You are human in your skin
And you’ll naturally keep walking

A better time, a better day

If there was a better time to play
we never knew of it
If there was a better time to grow up
it could have been caught by the wind
and the weight of our skin
to settle in

Do I know how to get from point A to be
And can I find myself knowing one thing or a few
Or do all answers lie in the thoughts of the moon?

Hold on before you go outside
as air gets thicker and thinner depending on where you move
and one day your lungs will chalk up and fail you

So I'll be popping pimples before I come to you
I think it's a breakthrough
Soon from me to you soon
I'll be holding thimbles mending materials
Always growing up way too soon

You will ride your horse into the dusk of the edge of the day
never to return with the light of the awakening dawn
it's the cold hearted swan song
It's some way to move

But in the end of the day all is spinning
and sometimes we lose our pull
to push off into stillness
to stop all our hearts
to preserve them for the life of the day
